Item type:Publication, The dual aversion of Chile’s constitution-making process(2021); Marcela Prieto<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>Chile initiated a constitution-making process in late 2019, after the major political parties signed an agreement to respond to the massive demonstrations that took over the streets in October of 2019. Dominant trends in Chile and Latin America’s constitutional thought typically examine this type of process through the lenses of the constituent power or transformative constitutionalism. The authors of this essay offer a different view. They argue that Chile’s constitution-making process, as designed by the multiparty agreement, manifests a double aversion: to avoid the Bolivarian way of constitution-making—including its associated constituent power narrative—and to put an end to the institutional and symbolic legacy of the Pinochet regime. Item type:Publication, Temporal Trends of Intravenous Thrombolysis Utilization in Acute Ischemic Stroke in a Prospective Cohort From 1998 to 2019: Modeling Based on Joinpoint Regression(2022); ; ; <jats:sec><jats:title>Introduction</jats:title><jats:p>The frequency of intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is lower than it should be in several regions of the world. It is unclear what interventions can produce significant improvements in IVT utilization. We aimed to investigate the temporal trends in IVT in AIS and identify changes in time that could be associated with specific interventions.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Methods</jats:title><jats:p>We included patients with AIS who were admitted from January 1998 to December 2019 in our institution. To analyze trends in utilization and time points in which they changed, we performed a Joinpoint regression analysis. Interventions were assigned to a specific category according to the Behavior Change Wheel framework intervention function criteria.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Results</jats:title><jats:p>A total of 3,361 patients with AIS were admitted, among which 538 (16%) received IVT. There were 245 (45.5%) women, and the mean age and median National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores were 68.5 (17.2) years and 8 (interquartile range, 4–15), respectively. Thrombolysis use significantly increased by an average annual 7.6% (95% CI, 5.1–10.2), with one Joinpoint in 2007. The annual percent changes were.45% from 1998 to 2007 and 9.57% from 2007 to 2019, concurring with the stroke code organization, the definition of door-to-needle times as an institutional performance measure quality indicator, and the extension of the therapeutic window.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Conclusions</jats:title><jats:p>The IVT rates consistently increased due to a continuous process of protocol changes and multiple interventions. The implementation of a complex multidisciplinary intervention such as the stroke code, as well as the definition of a hospital quality control metric, were associated with a significant change in this trend.</jats:p></jats:sec>1Scopus© Citations 10 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Shaping the social orientation of academic entrepreneurship: an exploratory study(2022); Abel Alan Diaz-Gonzalez<jats:sec><jats:title content-type="abstract-subheading">Purpose</jats:title><jats:p>Despite growing scholarly interest in academic entrepreneurship (AE) few studies have examined its non-commercial aspects and how it contributes to meeting grand societal challenges. One explanation for this may be the continuing focus of AE on intellectual property commercialization. This paper aims to address this knowledge gap by uncovering how universities can contribute to promoting non-commercial forms of AE.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type="abstract-subheading">Design/methodology/approach</jats:title><jats:p>This paper uses the human capital theoretical lens to make its argument and applies it to data obtained from exploratory qualitative research (55 semi-structured interviews and nine focus groups) in the developing countries of Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type="abstract-subheading">Findings</jats:title><jats:p>Universities can promote different forms of non-commercial AE even in the absence of sophisticated resources for innovation, through the stimulation of the specific human capital of the university community resulting from activities where they help others.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type="abstract-subheading">Originality/value</jats:title><jats:p>This paper proposes a general framework for advancing theory development in AE and its non-commercial forms, based on data obtained in uncharted territories for AE.</jats:p></jats:sec>3Scopus© Citations 17 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
