Item type:Publication, Pregnancy-Specific Stress during the First Lockdown of the COVID-19 Pandemic: Assessing Face-to-Face versus Online Recruitment(2022) ;Sandra Simó ;Juanita Cajiao-Nieto ;Natalia V. Awad-SirhanRafael A. Caparros-Gonzalez
The study aims to assess pregnancy-specific stress among pregnant women in Spain during the first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic. Two samples of pregnant women from the south of Spain (Andalusia) were assessed using the Prenatal Distress Questionnaire (PDQ) and a sociodemographic and obstetric questionnaire. Group 1 (N = 155) was recruited face-to-face, whereas Group 2 (N = 78) was recruited online. Pregnancy-specific stress levels were significantly different in both groups. The face-to-face group (Group 1) had higher pregnancy-specific stress levels than the online group (Group 2). The online sample over-represents young adult pregnant women with high education levels and a high number of previous miscarriages. The face-to-face study seems more accessible to racially and ethnically diverse groups. The main concern among both groups was the risk of having a sick neonate. Research during the COVID-19 pandemic can benefit from using online resources to collect data to screen and identify perinatal mental health problems in a crisis environment. Nevertheless, researchers should be aware of the potential limitations this strategy can have, for example, certain groups of people may have limited access to the internet.
3Scopus© Citations 1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of Thyromimetic GC-1 Selective Signaling on Reproductive and Lactational Performance in the Hypothyroid Rat(2021) ;Estefanía Rinaldini ;Fiorella Campo Verde Arboccó; ;Carlos Gamarra-LuquesMaría Belén Hapon
<b><i>Introduction:</i></b> The potential of the thyroid hormone receptor β (TRβ1) selective analog GC-1 has been widely proven in animal models and humans. However, its effect on the reproductive stage of the female rat has not been evaluated. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> The effect of the administration of GC-1 or equimolar doses of triiodothyronine (T3) was evaluated on the reproductive performance of the hypothyroid female rat and the indirect effect on pup thyroid status, weight, and survival. <b><i>Results:</i></b> Hypothyroidism reduced the number of embryos implanted in the uterus, whereas T3 and GC-1 treatment in hypothyroid females reestablished the number of implanted embryos to normal. Initiation of labor was delayed by hypothyroidism, and T3 replacement treatment reinstated the normal timing of parturition. The administration of GC-1 alone to the lactating mother did not affect pup survival, weight, or thyroidal status. <b><i>Conclusions:</i></b> Our findings show the differential effect of thyroid hormone selective signaling during gestation and the indirect exposure of the pups; we also emphasize the plausible use of GC-1 for treatment of hypothyroid mothers during the lactation period.
13Scopus© Citations 1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Scopus© Citations 14 6 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
