The study of the interaction between these two fields has originated what we know today as political economy. However, political economy is a broad field that includes a wide range of school of thought that it would be impossible to discuss in one article. The present work gives a revision of the literature focusing in the main contributions that neoclassical political economy has made to the understanding of governmental behavior.
