Abstract
This article focuses on the extending citizenship under the first Imperial Dinasty. Some references about the late Republic are made. Then Caesars Government, the Principate of Augustus and especially, Claudius Government are analized. The speech that the above -mentioned made before the Senate in the year 48 B.C, is studied. In this speech he requested that citizens of Gaul be admitted to the Senate, which reveáis the growing incorporation of the provintial ones not only to the culture but to the Román politics. Hesitations in the process of enlargement of the citizenship, particularly between Caesar and Augustus, and then Claudius are also examined. As well as the reaction not always positive, of the Román leadership opposite to the Romanization Process whereby the Empire was incorporating new citizens to the sphere of the politics and of the Román high society is studied. © 2009 Ediciones Universitarias de Valparaíso.
